Mikisew Provincial Park

If I was to choose, I would pick backcountry over car camping any day.  Car camping feels so luxurious, but there is nothing wrong with that once in a while and it’s also nice to relax and spend time with family.

Mikisew Provincial Park is located about an hour north of Huntsville, Ontario on highway 11 on Eagle Lake. There wasn’t anything overly special about this park, except that there were hardly any mosquitoes, deer and horse flies which was a nice break.  Also, there were a lot of hemlock and black cherry trees in abundance which is always a welcome change.

I spent 3 nights up there with family and friends and did a little 3.2 km hike on the Maple Canyon trail, swam in the lake, stayed dry in my tent, and enjoyed the campfire.

I decided to try and capture the essence of car camping in photos.

I agree about choosing “roughing it” over glamorous car-camping, but it is lovely and relaxing sometimes. Great photos!
